街灯 Lampadaire Lamp post

公園内にある街灯にイエスズメの雄がとまって、さかんに「チュンチュン」やっている。ちょっと見てみればわかるのだが、隙間を利用して巣を作っているのである。

Des moineaux mâles sont perchés sur les lampadaires du parc, et lancent leur voix.
En observant de plus près, on voit qu'ils nichent en fait, dans le trou
du lampadaire.

The male house sparrows are perching on the lamps in the park and using
them as a song posts.
Looking closer I saw that they are nesting in a recess in the lamp post
ornamentation.

求愛 Parade Courtship

公園ではイエスズメが巣を造っているが、求愛してる個体もいる。
昨日は、一羽の雌を二羽の雄が追いまわしていた。雌はもう異性を受け入れるつもりはないのか、激しく抵抗していた。

Au parc, les moineaux domestiques sont en train de finir leur nid.
Et certains paradaient encore.
Ces deux méles poursuivaient une femelle.
Mais celle-ci n'avait plus, semblait-il, l'envie de recevoir leurs avances :
elle chassait avec violence ses prétendants.

In the park the house sparrows are making their nests.
A few are still displaying.
These two males where pursuing a female but it looked like she was
no longer interested in their advances.
She violently chased her suitors away.

マーキング Marquage Marking territory

先日にドブネズミを見た場所に再び行ってみた。巨大な雄が若いライバルを軽くあしらったあと、あちこちに自分の匂いを付けていた。

Je suis retourné là où j'avais vu les surmulots.
Un énorme mâle est apparu, et après avoir chassé son jeune rival, a marqué
son territoire un peu partout.

I went back to where I'd been seeing the rats.
An enormous male appeared and after chasing a young rival,
it started marking it's territory roundabouts.

舞台 Scène

始め目に入った時は何なのかと思った。黒い塊があって、黄緑色の細長いものが付いていた。
よく見たら、バンが交尾していたのだった。公園の池に注ぐ水路を前に、上からは小ぶりの桜が覆い被さっている。ちょっとした愛の舞台のようだった。

Je n'ai pas compris immédiatement ce que c'était.
Deux boules noires, avec des baguettes en vert jaune.
Deux poules d'eau s'accoupplaiet.
Avec, devant une rivière et au-dessus un cerisier en fleur, voilà une belle
scène d'amour.

I didn't understand straightaway what it was.
Two black balls with yellow green sticks.
Two moorhens copulating by the river with a flowering cherry overhead.
A really romantic scene.

警官 Gendarmes Police

先週は寒の戻りで冷たい日が続いた。打って変わって今日は快晴で暖かい。公園の樹には冬眠から覚めた「警官」と呼ばれるカメムシたちがエネルギー補給のために日光浴していた。

La semaine dernière fut le retour de froid.
Alors qu'aujourd'hui, le soleil était de retour .
Au parc, j'ai trouvé ces punaises appelées "gendarmes" sur un arbre, en train de se chauffer avant d'attaquer la journée.

Last week the cold returned.
Then today the sun made a comeback.
In the park I found these shield bugs known as "gendarmes" (police)
on a tree.
They were warming themselves before starting the day.

帰った Partis Gone

近所の公園には大きな池があり、冬は多くのユリカモメが集まってくる。１０日前はもう二羽のニシセグロカモメが残っていただけだが、昨日はカモメ類は全然見当たらなかった。芝生では４羽ほどのバンが草をむしっていた。

Dans le parc du quartier, il y a un grand étang qui attirent des dizaines de
mouettes rieuses pendant l'hiver.
Il y a dix jours, il ne restait que deux goélands argentés.
Et hier, tout laridé avait disparu.
Sur la pelouse, quatre poules d'eau arrachaient les herbes.

In the local park there is a big lake which attracts dozens of black-headed gulls during the winter.
Ten days ago there only remained a couple of herring gulls.
And yesterday all gulls had disappeared.
On the lawns four moorhens were grazing.

足輪 Bague Ring

先週のスケッチだが、旧線路で見たカケス。
カケスは一般に人を嫌う鳥なのでゆっくりと観察させてくれない。ところが、こいつは開けたところで餌を探しながら、数分間うろついていた。右脚には青い足輪が付いていた。
早速、足輪の事を仏語サイト「Ornitho-urbaine」で聞いてみた。青い足輪ならプラスチックで金属製でないから、多分籠抜けであろうと教えてもらった。

C'est un croquis fait la semaine dernière, un geai vu sur l'ancien chemin de fer.
C'est une espèce qui n'aime pas trop les humains, mais celui-ci se baladait à
découvert, en cherchant sa pitance, durant des minutes.
Sur sa patte droite, était fixée une bague bleue.
J'ai posé la question sur le forum "Ornitho-urbaine".
Aussitôt, j'ai eu ma réponse : il s'agirait sûrement d'un individu échappé, vu
sa bague bleue en plastique.

This is a sketch made last week. A jay seen on the old railway track.
It is a species that normally avoids humans but this one was showing itself off for several minutes whilst it looked for food.
On it's right leg there was a blue ring.
I posted a query about this on the "Ornitho-urbaine" forum.
Straightaway I got my reply.
The blue ring signified that it must have been an escaped bird.

音楽家 Musicienne

近所の旧線路で見たウタツグミ。この和名は英語の直訳だと思うが、欧州各国で似たような名称である。仏語でも「音楽家ツグミ」。

La grive musicienne sur l'ancien chemin de fer, la Petite Ceinture.
Son nom japonais doit être la traduction directe de l'anglais, Song Trush.
Dans de nombreux pays européens, elle porte des noms semblables.

A song thrush above the old railway 'la Petite Ceinture'.
The Japanese name must be translated straight from the English - song
thrush.
In numerous European countries it has a similar name.

屋上 Au sommet On the top

チョウゲンボウの巣を探し当てたが、親鳥がなかなか見られない。数日前に行ったら隣のビルに中型の鳥がとまっていた。やっとチョウゲンボウが描けると思って望遠鏡で覗いたら、ハイタカの若鳥であった。暫らく周りを見回していたが、突然飛び去っていった。

J'ai repéré le nid du faucon crécerelle, mais peu vu les adultes.
Et lorsque j'y étais il y a quelques jours, j'ai remarqué un oiseau de taille
moyenne au sommet d'un immeuble.
Je pensais bien sûr à un faucon et au téléscope, j'ai vu un épervier immature.
Pendant un bon moment il scrutait les alentours et d'un coup, il partit.

I found the spot where the kestrels must be nesting but the adults weren't
around much.
Whilst I was there a few days ago I saw a medium sized bird at the top
of a building.
At first I thought it must be a falcon but with the telescope I could see that
it was an immature sparrowhawk.
For a few moments it scrutinised its surroundings and then in an instant it was gone.

ねぐら Dortoir Roost

ドブネズミを写生したあと、ホシムクドリとイエスズメがねぐらにしている茂みを見にいった。下の枝が込み入ってる部分にはイエスズメ、上の枝ではホシムクドリが集まっていた。5～6羽で飛んできては、その茂みに入る。周りに木は沢山あるのに、何故かその潅木がお気に入りなのである。

Après avoir fait des croquis des rats, je suis allé voir un dortoir.
Là, les étourneaux et moineaux domestiques dorment ensemble.
Les moineaux se concentrent en bas où les branches sont serrées, et
les étourneaux ont leur quartier sur les branches hautes.
Des petits groupes de cinq, six oiseaux arrivent les uns après les autres.
Autour, il y a des arbustes semblables, mais ils ont sûrement leur préférence.

After making the sketches of the rats I went to look at a roost.
The starlings and house sparrows sleep together there.
The sparrows occupy the lower, denser branches and the starlings take their
place higher up.
Small groups of fiver or six birds arrive one after another.
Nearby there are similar bushes... but the birds certainly seem to have
a preference.
